Puri: The three-day U-11 State Open and Girls Chess Championship that kicked off on June 7 at Gundicha Bhakta Nivas here concluded on Sunday. Arushi Srichandan of Khurdha emerged champion in girls’ category by acquiring 6.5 points out of 7 while Sreyas Subham Patnaik of Cuttack bagged the champion title by securing six points.
Similarly, Aniska Pandey of Khurda became the co-winner in the girls’ section with achieving 5.5 points out of seven while Sriyas Das of Jajpur bagged 5.5 points to emerge co-winner in the open category.
The prize distribution ceremony was held on Sunday. Puri Municipality chairman Jayant Kumar Sarangi graced the event as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winning players. He also encouraged the participants on the occasion and wished them grand success in future.
