Bhubaneswar: In a bid to prevent violence on the campus the authorities of Utkal University today evicted over hundred non-bonafide students illegally and forcefully occupying hostel room on the varsity premises.
The varsity staff with the help of police forces evicted the outsiders from newly constructed hostel-7. The crackdown was carried out following an order of the vice-chancellor.
“We have authorized 31 students to stay in the hostel-7 while some others were rehabilitated in other hostel. However, some others who are not the students of the varsity and ex-students had occupied the rooms illegally. We had repeatedly asked them to vacate the room. But, they ignored the official order. So, today we with the help of police evicted them in presence of top varsity officials”, a raiding staff said.
Four platoons of police forces on the premises to prevent any untoward incident following the eviction.
The move came in wake of a series of violent incidents between the students and non-students in the campus in the recent pasts.
