Bhubaneswar: Veteran Ollywood actress Anita Das passed away today following a cardiac arrest at his residence at Shelter Chhak in Cuttack. She was 57.
She had acted over hundred Odia film and Bengali, Telugu and Hindi films also. She made her debut in Ollywood with Jajabar (1975). She mostly appeared in supporting roles and especially in mother character.
The most popular film of Anita Das is ‘Pua Mora Kala Thakura’ Swapna Sagara (1983), Ki Heba Sua Posile (1991) Gadhi Janile Ghara Sundara (1994), Sathire (2004) , ‘Bahudibe Mo Jaga Balia’.
Das died of cardiac arrest at her residence near Shelter Chhak here, reports said.
Her significant acting credits include Ramayan (1980), Swapna Sagara (1983), Ki Heba Sua Posile (1991) Gadhi Janile Ghara Sundara (1994), Sathire (2004), Om Shanti Om (2005), Aama Bhitare Kichhi Achhi (2010), Shapath (2012) and Abhay (2017).
A pall of gloom descended from Ollywood industry after the sad demise of Das. “She was most affectionate. I have personal relationship with her. I simply can’t believe this sad news. Odia cine industry would never get such a personality,” said Kuna Tripathy, veteran artist and chairman of Odisha Film Development Corporation.
