Bhubaneswar: Lashing out at CM Naveen Patnaik, PCC president Niranjan Patnaik today alleged that the funds under District Mineral Foundation (DMF) meant for the welfare activities in mining affected areas, have remained unspent.
Taking to twitter, the top Congress leader stated that if the funds are not utilised, what the purpose of such funds is? He alleged that 90 per cent of funds remained unspent.
“What is the purpose of such funds, Naveen Babu-spending on welfare of people or keeping them as showpiece in government’s account? 90% of funds under district mineral foundation are untouched! You could have done so much for welfare of people in mining affected areas! You didn’t work,” Niranjan tweeted.
He further mentioned that Rs 4075 crore under District Mineral Foundation, only Rs 389 crore have been spend while Rs 3,686 crore are still unspent. The remaining amount could have been spent on drinking water supply, health care, education, housing programme and child and welfare of women in mining hit areas, he stated.
