Jajpur: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly pushed his wife off a moving train near Jenapur station in Jajpur district today following a quarrel between them.
The left foot of the woman identified as Sabitri Das was chopped under the wheels of the train. She was rushed to the Jajpur Road hospital by the locals and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated.
According to reports, Sabitri along with her husband Rabi Das was returning from Balasore after daily wage. Both got into a quarrel inside the train over some trivial matter. Irked, Rabi, who was in an inebriated condition, pushed his wife when the train was about to stop at Jenapur station.
After committing the crime, Rabi fled the spot.
Sabitri had married Rabi two years ago after being separated from her first husband. She was a resident of Mundamala in Jajpur district while Rabi belongs to West Bengal.
