Thirty-five boarders of the PMShri Vidyalaya hostel in Bypariguda block were admitted to the Bypariguda Medical College late Monday night after complaining of severe stomach pain, suspected to be due to food poisoning.
The incident occurred around 9:30 PM after the students had dinner. As the number of children complaining of acute pain increased, Headmaster Kulamani Jena swiftly transported the 35 affected boarders to the hospital using three vehicles.
A medical team from Bypariguda and Ramgiri has since rushed to the hostel in Shiribeda to monitor the health of the remaining six students.
Doctors stated that the exact cause of the sudden illness will be confirmed only after a thorough examination.
