The investigation into the murder of traffic constable Subhamitra Sahu is nearing completion with the Capital Police Station filing a 680-page chargesheet in the Khordha District Magistrate court within three months.

The chargesheet names self-proclaimed 'Husband' Deepak Raut as the main accused in the strangulation death of Subhamitra. Three accomplices, including his relative Vinod Bihari Bhuyan and JCB driver Shambhu Mahant, are also accused of aiding in the disposal of the body and destruction of evidence.

The motive cited is financial: Deepak allegedly killed Subhamitra on September 6 after a fight over the remaining Rs 10 lakh of the Rs 20 lakh he had taken from her for a house and their July 23 court marriage.

Subhamitra, who worked in the DCP Traffic office, went missing after duty on September 6. Deepak confessed to the crime during police interrogation, leading to the recovery of her decomposed body from the Ghatgaon forest in Keonjhar district. The chargesheet includes the autopsy, DNA, and viscera reports, along with statements from 42 witnesses.
