Housing and Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra has issued a stern warning to officials regarding negligence and corruption in government projects. Speaking at a review meeting at the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation office, the minister made it clear that no compromise on work quality will be tolerated.
He clarified that if irregularities are uncovered, officials will face stricter punishments than the contractors themselves. Emphasizing that development relies on public funds, he reminded officials that their duty is to inspect quality and clear bills promptly upon satisfaction.
Minister Mohapatra expressed deep displeasure over 31 project bills pending since March despite work completion.
He openly warned against withholding payments for "percentage commissions" (bribes) and condemned the failure to utilize advance funds. Demanding absolute transparency, he directed immediate clearance of genuine bills and vowed strict action against anyone stalling progress for corrupt gains.
