In a major breakthrough against cybercrime, the Jharsuguda Cyber Police arrested a criminal from Bihar for morphing and posting obscene photos of a young woman online. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Tashid from Supaul district.

The action followed a complaint by the victim, who alleged that an unknown predator had created a fake Instagram account using her name and explicit profile pictures. Furthermore, the accused subjected her to prolonged mental harassment by sending obscene videos and threatening messages from multiple phone numbers.

Jharsuguda Police tracked the cyberstalker by gathering digital evidence and analyzing data retrieved from Meta, alongside call records. A special police team then raided Bihar to apprehend Tashid.

He has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, 2000, as confirmed by the Jharsuguda SP.
