General public darshan at the Shri Jagannath Temple (Srimandir) in Puri will be suspended for approximately four hours on Wednesday evening to facilitate the secret ritual of Mahaprabhu's Banakalagi Niti.
The special ceremony will commence after the second Bhogamandap ritual concludes. During Banakalagi, the Datta Mahapatra Sevaks decorate the faces (Shrimukha) of the deities inside the closed Jaya Vijaya Dwara.
Natural forest products such as Hingul (for yellow), Harital (for red), conch, camphor, and musk are traditionally used to impart unique beauty to the Deities' appearance, primarily utilizing black, white, red, and yellow colors.
The temple administration has advised devotees that normal darshan will resume immediately after the conclusion of the Banakalagi Niti.
