Fear has gripped Kusumpat village in Angul after a wild elephant brutally attacked and killed an elderly woman, identified as Pramila Sahu.
The tragic incident occurred in the morning when Pramila went to a nearby garden to collect mangoes, unaware of a roaming tusker. The elephant suddenly charged, grabbed her with its trunk, and crushed her.
Hearing her screams, family members and villagers rushed to the scene. With assistance from the Forest Department, she was rushed to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
As a shadow of grief blankets the village, terrorized locals are demanding immediate action from the Forest Department to increase vigilance and implement stronger measures to protect residents from frequent elephant attacks.
