A biting cold wave is expected to sweep across Odisha until the 12th, with the IMD warning of dense fog in Sundergarh and Kandhamal. Meteorologists say the chill may ease from the 13th. On Tuesday the 9th, Sundergarh, Angul and Jharsuguda will face the brunt of the wave.

G. Udaygiri recorded the lowest night temperature for the second day, 4.3 °C on Sunday, while Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were at 11.9 °C and 11.8 °C respectively. Senior agricultural meteorologist Prof. Surendranath Pashupalak forecasts the cold to persist till the 20th, with unchanged minima in north‑interior (Sundargarh, Jharsuguda) and west Odisha districts, and a possible rise after the 21st.
