A shocking incident has been reported from Puri, Odisha, where a 16-year-old girl, a Plus II student, was allegedly set on fire by three unidentified youths while she was on her way to a friend's house. The incident occurred in the Bayabar area of Nimapada Tehsil in Puri district.
According to sources, The girl was intercepted by three youths near a desolate stretch along the Bhargavi River road, where she was lifted and set ablaze.
The victim sustained critical burn injuries on her hands, legs, and parts of her torso.
She was initially taken to Pipili CHC and later referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for specialized treatment due to the severity of her injuries.
Reportedly, the Balanga police have launched an investigation to apprehend the accused and ascertain the reason behind the attack.
The family has ruled out personal enmity or a love-revenge case as possible causes, but the exact motive remains unclear.
The incident has sparked widespread panic and outrage in the locality, with demands for swift action against the perpetrators.
