A shocking incident has been reported from Bayabara village under Balanga police limits of Nimapara in Odisha's Puri district, where a 15-year-old girl was allegedly set on fire by three unidentified miscreants.
The girl was walking to her friend's house when the youths approached her and set her ablaze before fleeing the spot.
The girl was intercepted by three youths on a motorcycle, who poured a flammable substance on her and set her on fire.
The victim sustained severe burn injuries on her hands, legs, and torso, and is currently in critical condition at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Locals rushed to the spot, extinguished the flames, and shifted her to the hospital.
In a response to this, the Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has ordered strict action against the perpetrators, directing the police administration to immediately arrest the culprits involved.
The state government will bear all medical expenses for the victim's treatment.
Police have launched a detailed investigation, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend the accused persons.
