Bhubaneswar: Social activist and human rights defender Subhash Mohapatra, whose nomination papers for the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections were rejected today after scrutiny, today accused BJD Rajya Sabha candidate Achyuta Samanta of submitting a false affidavit.
“Four criminal cases are pending against him. However, he has not mentioned the same in the affidavit. He also holds office of profit as he is the president of Indian Science Congress which is an under the Department of Science and Technology and also an autonomous body of Government of India. Despite being in office of profit, his nomination has been accepted,” said Mohapatra.
Mohapatra also charged the KIIT ad KISS founder of possession two voter ID cards.
The human rights defender also slammed the Returning Officer Rajesh Prabhakar Patil for retaining the candidature of Samanta and rejecting his papers.
He threatened to move to the court of law to seek justice.
However, Samanta refuted the allegations of having two voter identity cards, filing false affidavit and holding office of profit as leveled by Mohapatra.
He said whatever he has mentioned in the affidavit is true.
