Bandh in Western Odisha for separate State

Balangir: The Koshal State Coordination Committee observed 12-hour bandh in 11 districts of western Odisha today demanding formation of a separate Koshal state.

The agitators were seen picketing outside several offices holding banners since morning.

While shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed due to the bandh, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt creating severe inconvenience for the commuters.

In Sambalpur, the government offices were functioning.

In Bolangir, the bandh enforces urged people to support the movement. The bandh which began since 6 am will continue till 6pm.

The agitators also blocked road at Station bazar in Jharsuguda.

Different social organisations extended their support to the bandh. Emergency services have been excluded from the agitation.

The bandh partially affected Angul district also as vehicular communication was paralysed.

Adequate police forces have been deployed in the bandh area to avoid any untoward incidents.
