Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra today said the people of Odisha did get anything from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech what they had expected in Cuttack rally.
“Mahanadi is a sensitive issue. It would be better if Modi speaks about the illegal works of the Chhattisgarh government,” Mohapatra said.
He further added that State government had proposed for constitution of a tribunal to resolve the interstate river dispute and moved to the Supreme Court. “It is true that a tribunal has been set up after the apex court ordered for the same. But, I doubt justice for Odisha may get delayed,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi yesterday blamed the State government for not cooperating with the Centre to resolve the water sharing issue amicably. While addressing a huge gathering in Cuttack on fourth anniversary of his government, he said the Odisha government has admitted in the State Assembly more than of half of the Mahanadi water is getting drained to Bay of Bengal. The Centre wants to resolve the controversy between two states, but Odisha is not interested on the matter, he had alleged.
