Puri: Bramhagiri block office premises turned into a virtual battle field today following a scuffle between two groups of BJD and BJP. Two persons from both the parties sustained injuries on head in the brawl.
The bloody fight took place in presence of police.
Sources said some BJP activists staged a sit-in in front of the block office, protesting their exclusion from ‘Ama Gaan, Aama Vikash programme. They alleged that BJD supporters are taking part in the CM’s video conference programme and receiving government work in a monopolistic way.
Local tehsildar, BDO and sub-collector had met striking BJP workers and discussed their issues while BJD supporters barged into the office and attacked the saffron party group. The battle continued for quite some time even as the police forces were present there.
As tension ran high, police imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC.
The area is still in the grip of tension. One platoon of forces has been deployed to avoid any further tension.
