Dharmendra slams Odisha government over abduction and rape of Cuttack girls

Cuttack: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today lashed out at the Odisha government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the abduction and rape of two sisters and suicide of one of them in Cuttack.

Demanding CM’s intervention in the matter, Pradhan lambasted police for their inefficiency to rescue one of the girls. Even though seven days have passed since the incident, police have failed to crack the case, he added.

One among the two sisters managed to escape from the clutches of miscreants and narrated the ordeal before Markat Nagar police. Later, she committed suicide because she lost trust on police, Pradhan alleged.

Another sister is still untraced. Police are well informed about the incident, but they are insensitive towards the safety of women, the union minister alleged.

“The government is least concerned about the safety of the girl. The safety and security of our mothers and sisters can never be compromised. The CM should intervene directly into the matter and resolve the issue”, Pradhan said, demanding stringent action against the culprits.

Notably, two sisters of CDA area in Cuttack were abducted and raped by miscreants. One of the sisters escaped from the clutches of the miscreants while another is still untraced. The girl who escaped the miscreants committed suicide after giving her statement to police.
