Bhubaneswar: Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday described Odisha Government’s KALIA Scholarship scheme as an ‘election gimmick’.
Pradhan also slammed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not implementing the newly introduced reservations in Government jobs and higher education for the economically weaker sections in the general category.
In a series of tweets, he stated “After 72 years of independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced reservations for economically backward sections in OBC general category both in education and jobs sectors. Instead of giving them their constitutional right, the State Government is hoodwinking them by introducing KALIA Chhatrabruti,”
“It’s unfortunate that Naveen Patnaik-led Government is playing with the economically backward sections. Where the problem lies in introducing the quota system,” he asked.
A government which failed to protect the HSC examination question paper, how can it build the future of Odia students, Pradhan asked.
With the elections approaching fast, the Chief Minister is trying to befool the people of Odisha particularly, the economically weaker sections in the general category.
The Union Minister flayed the State government for giving only fake assurance to the students for 19 years. It’s enough. Now the time has come for a change of government lie and pretention, he added.
The Union Minister’s response came on the day when Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the scholarship scheme.
Under the programme, Odisha Government will bear educational expenses of students for studying in State Government institutions.
