Puri/Bhubaneswar: A day after the Puri district administration informed that a set of duplicate keyy of the inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar of Srimandir was found from the district record room, the Odisha government today issued gazette notification and term of reference (TOR) for a judicial inquiry into the key missing matter.
The notification stated that the judicial Commission which will be headed by retired High Court justice Raghubir Das will examine the sequence of the events and circumstances leading to the reported non-availability of the key of the inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar.
The Commission will also inquire into the role, conduct and accountability of individuals /groups/authorities for the reported non-availability of the key, said the notification.
This apart, the panel would suggest measures to avoid recurrence of such event in future.
On the other hand, as per the Supreme Court order, the State government has constituted 3-member committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra to study management of important shrines such as Vaishno Devi, Somnath Temple, Golden Temple, Tirupati Temple, Dharmasthala temple and suggest changes required for the Sri Jagannath temple.
Other two members of the Committee are Soumendra Priyadarshi, IG of police and Mahimohan Tripathy, an ex-administrator and a member of temple managing committee.
The team has been asked to submit its interim report by June 30.
Notably, a team of officials has found a set of keys in a strong box of the District Record Room yesterday. Collector Arvind Agarwal informed media persons that the keys were found in a sealed envelope carrying a tag of a “duplicate keys of Bhitara Bhandar”.
