Rayagada: Rebel BJD leader Hema Gamang, who is also the wife of senior BJP leader and ex-CM Giridhar Gamang, today resigned from the party.
She tendered her resignation letter to party supremo and CM Naveen Patnaik citing seven reasons which include ‘PC’ transaction in the State. She also alleged that she was grossly neglected in the party.
In February, Hema had openly called for a revolt against party president Naveen Patnaik for misgovernance and accused him of allowing his private secretary VK Pandian to reign supreme.
She had alleged that BJD is adopting ‘use & throw’ politics. She called upon the people to come together to dethrown Naveen Patnaik.
Gamang had unsuccessfully contested from Lakshmipur Assembly segment on a BJD ticket in 2014.
A former Lok Sabha member, Hema had quit Congress just before the 2014 election and joined BJD.
