Maoists appeal people to boycott Lok Sabha, Assembly elections

Kandhamal: Maoists have left leaflets and posters near Sukingia Chhak in Baliguda in Kandhamal district appealing people to boycott upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Maoists have been boycotting elections for past many years and ensure to create hurdle or launch attack on polling parties or kidnap members of polling team on the election day. Even they threaten people not to franchise their votes.

It is learnt that Maoist of Baghuna Divisional Committee of CPI (Maoists) were accused of hanging posters.

They also urged the people to fight their democratic rights. This time, they have hanged posters and thrown leaflets near Sukingia Chhak appealing the people to boycott the ensuing elections. Locals were terrified to see posters.

Sources said a search operation was launched by security forces and the posters and banners were collected.

On Monday night, a group of 25 armed Maoists have killed a road construction supervisor in Malkangiri district and also torched three vehicles and an excavator at the site. The incident took place at Kukurkandi village under Mathili police limits.
