Miscreants loot devotee by slitting throat in Puri

Puri: A day after a youth having criminal antecedents was killed in a gang-war in Puri, another brutality on a devotee by the criminals rocked the pilgrim town today.

The miscreants looted the wallet and gold ornaments from a devotee after attacking him with a sharp weapon near Jagannath Ballav parking ground in the town.

Pramod Jena, a resident of Balasore sustained critical wounds on head and neck. He was admitted to Puri hospital and later shifted to Cuttack after primary treatment.

Town police started investigation after registering a case.

The miscreants committed the crime when Jena along with some devotees from Gujarat was returning from Srimandir after having darshan of Lord Jagannath and his siblings. The miscreants attempted to snatch the chain and wallet from him. When he resisted, they attacked him with a sharp weapon.

Yesterday, a youth named Sanjay was shot at by his rival groups near Nakachana gate of Gundicha temple. He died later last night while undergoing treatment at Puri hospital.
