Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda, who was suspended from BJD on January 24 for alleged anti-party activities, today quit the party citing rising humiliations from the party.
He will also tender his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker after completion of religious obligations of his father’s demise, Panda stated in his letter to BJD president and CM Naveen Patnaik.
“The BJD doesn’t want me anymore and in fact wants me out, is now irrefutably clear. I have stoically borne many humiliations over the past four years, but this is the last straw, it is now beyond my self-respect to continue to be associated with the party in an atmosphere as mean minded as this,” he stated in his letter.
In a three-page letter, Panda expressed anguish over the absence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and any of the BJD leaders during the death of his father and noted industrialist Bansidhar Panda, who was a close associate of Biju Babu. He stated that it was heartbroken when many BJD leaders conveyed that they had been restrained from coming to pay last respect to the departed soul.
He also expressed his displeasure over CM refraining from enquiring about his health he was attacked by some BJD workers in Mahanga during inauguration of drinking water project.
