Bhubaneswar: Veteran Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Harihar Nanda passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar today following pro-longed illness. He was 85.
Nanda suffering from liver related ailments was undergoing treatment for last few days.
He was well known as ‘Harihar Da’ in Sangh Parivar. Nanda had played a significant role in influencing youth mass towards patriotism. He was the one of the foremost campaigners of the RSS ideology.
He was a orator, leader and writer. He was the former editor of Rastra Deep, an Odia weekly. He had also served as the chief of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Jagaran and the state general secretary RSS’ Odisha unit.
People from different walks of life expressed deep condolence over the death of Hindu leader. Eminent politicians, leader and noted personalities including BJP’s national Vice-President Baijyant Panda paid last respect to the departed soul at his residence.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram also expressed grief over his demise. In a tweet, Pradhan stated that he is grieved over the demise of Nanda. His passing away is an irreparable loss of Sangha Parivar. May his soul rest in peace, he tweeted.
