Bhawanipatna: Hitting out at the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha, BJP national president Amit Shah today appealed to the people to uproot the BJD from the State and vote for BJP for an all round development.
“It is clearly known from such a mass congregation that BJP will form the next government here. Odisha is rich in natural resources, culture and tradition, but only it lacks a strong leadership, which the BJP can sort out,” Shah said at a public rally here at Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium.
Urging people to give BJP an opportunity to serve the State, the saffron party chief said Odisha needs a government which can understand the plight of people.
“Odisha has everything. There is plenty of water. Lord Jagannath is here. Farmers and youths here are laborious. But the State is still far away from development only due to an infficient government,” he added.
Taking an indirect dig at Naveen, he said “who doesn’t speak Odia fluently, how can he understand the problems of people here.”
Shah further pointed out that 36% households are living without electricity in State. Around 50 lakh people here are living in kutcha houses. Lack of drinking water has become a household problem here.”
The Centre has sanctioned adequate funds for the rural housing programme, but these remained unutilised. Despite adequate central assistance, children here are suffering from malnutrition “he maintained.
