Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of ‘Raja’, that kicked off from Thursday.
The PM took to the twitter and mentioned his wishes both in Odia and english languages.
“On the special festival of Raja Parba, my greetings to the people of Odisha. May this festival enhance the spirit of joy in our society,” he tweeted.
The three-day festival of swings is being celebrated with much fanfare and gaiety. on Friday.
Today is the second day of the three-day ‘Raja’ festival. It is celebrated during the onset of monsson.
While the first day is called Pahili Raja, the second and third days in line are called Raja Sankranti and Bhuindahana respectively. It is also believed that mother earth menstruates during these three days and as a mark of respect women are barred from doing any house activities.
