Bhubaneswar: Dubbing the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Man Dhan Yojana as biggest welfare scheme in the world, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said the scheme which was launched by the prime minister in Ahmedabad, will act as shield for poor and downtrodden people of India.
The scheme which will give Rs 3,000 per month, can change the life of a poor man, he added.
The small vendors, Rickshaw puller, construction workers, agriculture workers, municipality workers, petrol pump workers, gas distributors will avail the benefit. The Government of India launched the scheme for 42 crore people in the country in which Odisha will also get benefit.
Over 6 lakh people have connected with the scheme in the country while in Odisha 24,000 cards have been completed. Pradhan alleged Odisha government is not cooperating with the Centre for the carrying out the scheme. The people are being misled about the scheme. Collectors are not carrying out their responsibilities properly, he alleged.
The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) scheme aims to ensure old age protection for unorganized workers whose monthly income is Rs 15,000 per month or less.
Under the pension scheme, each subscriber will receive minimum assured pension of Rs 3000 per month after attaining the age of 60 years.
