Price hike: Youth Congress activists remove PM’s poster at filling stations

Bhubaneswar: The activists of Odisha youth Congress today removed the posters and banners of PM Narendra Modi at some petrol pumps as a mark of protest against price hike of petrol and diesel.

A group of youth Congress activists took out a rally from Congress Bhawan and reached the petrol pump at Delta square. They tore the posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from a filling station there.

Police have taken the youth Congress president Loknath Moharathy and some other activists to preventive custody.

The protesters said the poster removal drive will continue if the price of petrol and diesel doesn’t come down in near future.

Meanwhile, PCC president Prasad Harichandan condemned the detention of youth leader and activists. “When other party members are protesting, police remain silent. But, they are acting tough on the Congress workers only. This politically motivated,” he added.

BJD spokesperson Amar Satpathy welcomed the move of Congress party. He said the UPA government was dethroned due to price hike. Same thing will happen soon, he added.

On the other hand, BJP State vice president Sameer Mohanty said the Congress is acting like the walking stick of BJD and its chief Naveen Patnaik. Congress is doing this at the behest of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he added.
