Bhubaneswar: The long-standing demands of the Primary school teachers’ association were fulfilled finally by the government. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the teachers’ demand of cadre restructuring, benefiting 72,000 teachers across the State.
The government also gave consent to hike their basic grade pay from Rs 2200 to Rs 2800.
A meeting chaired by CM Naveen Patnaik was convened at Secretariat to discuss teachers’ issue. After the meeting, the CM approved teachers’ cadre restructuring and grade pay hike. The meeting was attended by School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra and secretary.
As many as 72,563 teachers will benefit from cadre rejig.
The teachers had protested several times against the Government for not fulfilling their demands which they have been raising since 2008.
