Jeypore: Congress president Rahul Gandhi today promised a slew of initiatives for women on International Women Day if his party comes to power in Odisha.
“When we form the government, we will provide free education to every girl in Odisha. We will provide Rs 2,000 widow allowance and financial assistance for marriage of every poor woman”, Gandhi said while addressing a massive rally in Jeypore.
For women’s safety, a special officer will be posted in every panchayat. A financial corporation will be formed to assist small and medium women entrepreneurs, he further said.
Coming down heavily on Narendra Modi-led Central government, Rahul said Modi tried to undo the Land Acquisition Bill and we stopped him every time. But, today in the BJP States, the law is weakened and land is acquired from Aadivasis and farmers without consent.
“In Bastar, Chhattisgarh, land acquired by TATA was left unused for 10 years. When we formed the government, we returned the land to the Aadivasis. This is your right”, he said.
Rahul also lamabasted Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik for not giving proper price of paddy to the farmers. “While In Chhattisgarh, our government is providing Rs 15 per quintal of paddy, Odisha farmers are getting Rs 16. If our party comes to power, farmers would get not less than Rs 2500”, he added.
The top Congress leader also promised minimum guarrantee to all youths. All poor people will get employment.
Hitting out at CM Naveen Patnaik and his government, Raul said that Odisha is being governed by four officers. The voice of poor is being suppressed. The CM’s office is opened for industrialists, but not for poor, he added.
“But we want to run the government keeping people’s voice in view”, he added.
Rahul also blasted at Narendra Modi over Rafale deal. “By taking away the Rafale deal from HAL, while the French benefit from it, youth of Odisha have lost the opportunity for employment”, he added.
