Singhvi targets Centre on Rafale deal, State on ‘KALIA’ scheme

Bhubaneswar: A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha, Congress today lambasted the Central government over Rafale jet deal.

At a press meet in party’s State headquarters in Bhubaneswar, senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi today said the BJP-led Central government tried to mislead the Judiciary system by providing false information on Rafale deal to Supreme Court. The entire nation has been kept in dark, he said.

Why the government entrusted a 12-day old company with the task of purchasing Rafale jet when experienced PSU like HAL has been serving the nation in defence sector.

What has happened with Dassault, the manufacturer of Rafale, which made agreement with bankrupt a company, Singhvi questioned.

The UPA had decided to purchase 36 Rafale fighter jet for Rs 18,940 cr (526 cr per jet). But NDA, after coming to power, fixed the rate at Rs 1600 crore per jet. How a difference of Rs 41,000 crore is possible?

When the Congress party wanted to know the details, the Modi-government kept entire nation in dark.

The top Congress leader also didn’t spare Odisha government. Singhvi said the government here is doing politics with religious sentiments of the people by bringing a scheme after the name of Lord Jagannath.

The CM who was in a deep slumber for the last 18 years, woke up and remembered the ‘KALIA’ yojana. This is an insult to Lord Jagannath.

He also slammed the Prime Minister for not meeting the all-party delegation which wanted to discuss with over farmers’ issues including paddy MSP.
