Bhubaneswar: Union Minister and senior BJP leader Jual Oram today alleged that there is a secret understanding between Niranjan Patnaik and Naveen Patnaik in which BJD MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, who is also the brother of Niranjan, is acting as the bridge.
At a press meet, Oram asserted that BJP will come to power in 2019 by contesting the election alone.
In a strong reply to the Tribal Affairs minister, the Patnaik brothers, Soumya and Niranjan, countered him dubbing his statement as an outcome of Karnataka results.
Niranjan said “I don’t understand that why BJP is so panicked? BJP was in a relationship with BJP for nine years. So, it has a secret tie with the regional party.”
“Why Naveen Patnaik is not attending the oath taking ceremony of Karnataka CM when all non-BJP chief Ministers are going to the event,” Niranjan asked.
On Jual’s statement on Soumya, the PCC president further reacted that Soumya Ranjan has liberty to go anywhere. He might join BJD to do something good for the State.
Soumya, on the other hand, asked the minister to refrain from involving family into politics. “It would not be fruitful if he puts family in politics. I am ready to accept any punishment if any allegations against me are proved. During the regime of JB Patnaik, I was also in BJP and during the time, Jual must have known the fact. He should not throw stone from inside a glass house,” Soumya added.
BJD, however, termed Jual’s allegation as ‘Karnatak After Effect’. BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said BJP is worried lot after the defeat in Karantak. The saffron party is looking for ploy to escape from 2019 election.
“Our leader Naveen Patnaik has made it clear that we are maintaining equidistance from both Congress and BJP,” Patra clarified.
