Two from Odisha to receive Kendra Sahitya Akademi award

Bhubaneswar: Eminent writers Birendra Mohanty and Jayadratha Suna have been selected to receive prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi award for 2018.

Mohanty, a well-known children’s litterateur, has been selected for ‘Bal Sahitya Puraskar’ for his anthology of poems titled ‘Rumku Jhuma’, Suna will be conferred with the ‘Yuva Puraskar’ for his book of poetry ‘Sosa’.

Both will be conferred with a plaque and a cheque of Rs 50,000 at a special function on November 14, 2018.

Excited over his selection, Suna said that the honour would inspire him to go ahead in field of literature.

The Executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi has selected 13 writers from across the country including Mohanty and Suna at its meeting chaired by its president Chandrasekhar Kambar in Guwahati.

Kendra Sahitya Akademi annually confers on writers of the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the major Indian languages every year.
