Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) continues to turn heat on BJD-led State government and CM Naveen Patnaik demanding clarification over missing of Ratna Bhandar keys.
At a press meet, BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya said the key is actually lost or has intentionally been misplaced.
He further criticized the government for shifting the Ratna Bhandar ornaments to SBI lockers. “Such decision clearly shows that government has admitted that Ratna Bhandar is unsafe.
“Even the law related to Sri Mandir has not been amended, who authorized the government and temple administration to keep the ornaments of the deities in bank locker,” Acharya added.
“CM Naveen has not spoken anything on the missing of the Ratna Bhandar key. He should clarify whether the keys are actually lost or intentionally misplaced,” he demanded.
Similarly, senior BJP leader Giridhari Gamang clarified that the keys were safe during his tenure as Chief Minister of Odisha. “During my tenure, the temple treasury was not inspected. The keys of the treasury were also kept safely,” he added.
Reacting to BJP’s allegations, BJD MP and senior lawyer Pinaki Mishra said that the saffron party is unnecessarily politicizing the matter.
“As an experienced lawyer, such irresponsible comment against CM is not expected from him. Ratna Bhandar was last opened in 1985 and dragging Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik is totally unjustified,” said Mishra.
Earlier in the day, the saffron party staged demonstrations in all districts and sub-divisions across the State what they called as ‘Jan Jagaran Yatra’ over key missing issue. Besides, the party has also threatened to stage demonstration in front of all police stations across the State for a week beginning tomorrow.
