The Odisha government is set to distribute the third installment of financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana to over one crore women beneficiaries on August 9, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will attend a ceremony in Koraput as the chief guest and distribute the installment.
According to sources, women beneficiaries will receive ₹5,000 as part of the third installment, bringing the total amount disbursed under the scheme to ₹50,000 over five years.
Women aged 21-60 years with an annual family income below ₹2.5 lakh are eligible for the scheme.
A review of the Subhadra Yojana is underway to include more beneficiaries, with feedback collected from 7,000 women so far. The target is to collect 22,000 opinions within a month.
Around 2 lakh women who were previously excluded from the scheme will be re-evaluated, and eligible beneficiaries will receive financial assistance without needing to reapply.
The Subhadra Yojana aims to empower women financially, promote digital transactions, and ensure economic security.
Over one crore women have joined the scheme, with more expected to benefit from the ongoing review process.
The scheme has a budget allocation of ₹55,825 crores, with ₹10,145 crores allocated for various initiatives, including ₹153 crores for women's security.
