Vigilance officials on Saturday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Excise cum-in-Charge Superintendent of Excise, Nabarangpur for amassing properties disproportionate to his known source of income.
The accused has been identified as Ganga Paikray.
According to officials, Paikray was found in possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 208 per cent of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
During house searches, movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Paikray and his family members.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Paikray were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 208% in excess of his known sources of income, officials said.
