The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a nationwide initiative aimed at transforming Indian agriculture, was inaugurated in Dhenkanal district on May 29, 2025. The program, launched by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Puri, Odisha, aims to reach 1.5 crore farmers across 723 districts in India.

The 15-day campaign, which will run until June 12, focuses on:

- Farmer Outreach: Scientists from ICAR and Krishi Vigyan Kendra will reach out to farmers, sharing knowledge on advanced agricultural practices, soil health management, and natural farming.

- Capacity Building: The program aims to empower farmers with new skills and knowledge, enhancing their income and agricultural productivity.

- Grassroots Engagement: The initiative promotes collective ownership and dedication, involving state governments, ICAR institutes, and agricultural departments.

In Dhenkanal district, three teams have been formed, comprising scientists from ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and Agriculture Department officers. These teams will:

- Cover 60 Gram Panchayats: Across all blocks in the district, reaching approximately 15,000 farmers.

- Provide Expert Advice: Scientists will offer guidance on pre-kharif agriculture, soil testing, and animal husbandry schemes like Kamdhenu Yojana.

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is expected to increase agricultural production, enhance farmer incomes, and ensure food security in the country. By bridging the gap between scientists and farmers, the program aims to promote sustainable agriculture practices and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
