2 teachers killed as car hits bike; locals torch car

Boudh: In an unfortunate incident, two teachers of Boudh government girls’ high school were killed after a car hit their bike from behind on a bridge near Biranarasinghpur in the district today. After the mishap, locals set the car on fire.

The incident took place at around 6.30 am today when teacher Azim Khan and his colleague Jyotirmayee Pradhan was going to school on a bike. The speeding car hit their bike from behind leaving them dead on the spot.

Both the teachers are residents of Rambhikata village under Harabhanga block in Boudh.

The incident irked the locals who set afire the car and detained the car driver.

Tension prevailed in the area following the mishap. Guardians of the students alleged that similar accidents are taking place repeatedly on the bridge due to narrowness of the road. They demanded widening of the road. Police reached the spot and pacified the irate people.

The car was reduced ashes before fire personnel reached the spot.
