Keonjhar: As many as 31 tribal students of Ghatagaon Maa Manga High School of Balijhadi village in Ghatagaon block in Keonjhar district have decided to boycott the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or Matric exam this year.
The students have taken the step, as their examination centre is located 23 km away from the school due to which the children would face a lot of problems in reaching the exam venue. The students also said that parents are not able to finance them to stay near the exam centre due to poor financial condition.
According to reports, the parents and villager had also approached the teachers, block authorities and board authorities about the matter. But they are yet to pay any heed to their requests.
Following which, the children have decided to boycott the exam. The students have decided to submit written statement regarding this to the Block Education Officer (BEO).
Even though according to rules, the examination centre should be between 10 km of the school.
However, the school is having it examination centre at SN Vidyapeetha in Dhenkikote for the last five years.
