BJP alleges secret pact between Congress and BJD, stalls Assembly proceedings

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly witnessed pandemonium during Question hour on the fourth day of winter session as the BJP members created noise, alleging secret pact between the ruling party and Congress.

The BJP members rushed to the well soon after the House assembled for the day and raised slogan waving a banner featuring pictures of Narasingha Mishra and Naveen Patnaik. With slogan like ‘Congress-BJD Bhai Bhai’ and BJD is walking stick of Congress, the BJP MLAs stalled the question hour. Only after four minutes of transaction, Speaker Pradeep Amat adjourned the House till 11.30 am. They also staged dharna in front of the Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises. Similar situation also prevailed during Zero hour when the Assembly reassembled after 11.30 am. As the Assembly could not transact any business, the Speaker convened an all party meet for smooth functioning of the House. .

The BJP’s allegation comes a day after Congress’ Krushna Sagaria, who resigned recently from the membership of the Assembly, alleged that Leader of Opposition has made a secret deal with BJD.

On the other hand, Narasingha Mishra rubbished the allegation counter BJP on same allegation. “The relationship of BJP and BJD is proved on different occasion. If the proceedings of the Assembly are observed, our action against BJD would be known. We had criticised the government and CM many times. During chief fund issue, BJD members demanded my resignation and burnt my effigy. We have been doing anti-BJD politics from the beginning. When BJP woman MLA faced derogatory remarks from the ruling party members, we had come forward to protect her,” Mishra said.

Similarly, BJD said that is always maintaining equidistance from both BJP and Congress. “We have been always raising voice over Central negligence. BJP is not aware about our motive,” BJD spokesperson Puspendra Singhdeo said.
