Bhubaneswar: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked BJD-led government and Congress party during his visit to Odisha, the three major political parties in State today Delhi engaged in a bitter war of words.
PCC president Niranjan Patnaik alleged a secret deal between BJP and BJD. “Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Naveen Patnaik are trying to hoodwink people by making a secret deal between them. Both are covering each other’s wrong doing”, alleged Patnaik.
“They consider the people of Odisha fool. Both are anti-farmers. Modi is habituated in giving false promises. Out of 99 projects of Centre, work of 74 is yet to begin. Modi didn’t utter a single word during his speech on the all party delegation which wanted to meet him over farmers’ issues. We had suspected earlier about a deal between BJD and BJP. But, now it is proved,” Patnaik added.
“With saying Jay Jagannath, Modi tried to betray the people here. The Central funds have been decreased in comparison to previous years” Patnaik added.
Countering him, BJD MP and spokesperson Pratap Deb said “our stand is very clear. We are maintaining equidistance from both BJP and Congress. We are not accountable to any party, be it BJP or Congress. We are accountable to the people only”.
“As Niranjan is speaking about BJP-BJD deal, his party predecessor of PCC had also alleged that Naveen Patnaik took decision on Congress affair. Is it true? Deb asked.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lambasted both BJD and Congress. “The Chief Minister should give details of the land connected with irrigation facilities as he had promised in election manifesto. The Congress which had taken back the country in every front during its long-time rule, has no right to comment,” Pradhan said.
Modi yesterday inaugurated and laid foundation of a range of projects in Odisha. He also highlighted various welfare projects of Centre and indirectly attacked Odisha government for implementing these projects properly.
