Bhubaneswar: The State government today launched an e-portal to enable construction workers to access various services offered by the Labour Department in an easy and hassle-free manner.
CM Naveen Patnaik launched the portal at a state level programme on occasion of construction workers’ service week which will be observed till April 9. Labour Minister Sushanta Singh, MP Prasanna Patsani and other officials of Labour Department were present on the occasion. Over 10,000 construction workers from across the State also participated in the event.
The workers can avail multiple services offered to them by the government through this on-line platform. The portal would act as a one-stop shop for them, an official said.
The CM also relaxed the norms for them in Socio Economic Caste Census for pucca house scheme of the government. He also announced to set up rest houses, toilets in all district Labour offices and to ensure drinking water facilities there.
The children of the construction workers can use the portal to avail assistance offered by the government to pursue technical education in ITI institutes and diploma colleges.
He also declared to provide scholarship to students belonging to these families, financial aid to expectant mothers, cycle, safety equipments to the workers and training for skill development.
