Congress holds anti-demonetisation protest before RBI office

Bhubaneswar: The Congress today held a protest against demonetisation in front of regional office Reserve Bank of India (RBI) here.

Party activists and leaders led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik criticised the note ban exercise of the Narendra Modi Government.

As a part of its nation-wide protest on the occasion of second anniversary of demonetisation, the protesting leader highlighted miseries of the nation since last two years under Modi regime.

“It is a protest against failed demonetisation of Narendra Modi Government where common people of the nation suffered its grave consequences. Out of 15.44 lakh crore notes in circulation, 15.31 lakh crore notes were deposited in the banks. So where did the black money go?” questioned OPCC chief Patnaik.

He further said that there was a loss of 1.5 per cent of GDP which amounts to Rs 2.25 lakh crores per annum.

Many senior leaders like former Union Minister Srikant Jena and former OPCC president Jaydev Jena participated in the demonstration.

On November 8, on the second anniversary of demonetisation, several Congress leaders and activists, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government for its note ban decision.
