Bhubaneswar: Commuters will now have to cough up more while travelling in private buses as the fare of passenger buses was hiked.
Following hike in petrol and diesel prices, the Odisha government today increased fares for all categories of passenger buses under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism, bus owners’ association secretary Debendra Sahoo informed.
The fares of ordinary and express buses were hiked by 2 paise per km while passengers travelling in deluxe and AC and deluxe buses will have to pay 4 paise more per km.
The fare for ordinary buses will now be 70. The fare was earlier 68. Fare of Express buses was increased from 71 to 73 paise per km.
Similarly, deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1 and 1paise per km while passengers travelling in AC Deluxe buses will have to shell out Rs 1.23 per km Rs 1.17 paise per km.
