With attack on Naveen & Modi, Rahul Gandhi promises farm loan waiver, hike in paddy MSP

Bhubaneswar: Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi today termed them as the two sides of same coin as both are entrenched in knee deep pit of corruption and scam.

Dubbing Naveen Patnaik in Odisha as the junior partner of PM Narendra Modi, the Congress top leader lambasted at Patnaik that he is controlled by the PM in Delhi. “The choukidar (PM) of the country is a ‘chor’ (thief). In Odisha, there is big theft also-Chitfund scam in which several ministers of Naveen Patnaik are involved. Naveen is dancing to the tune of Prime Minister’s CBI remote”, Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a massive rally in Bhubaneswar during his maiden visit to Odisha after taking over the charge of AICC.

Odisha is rich for its abundant natural resources like minerals, water, forest and land. But, people are poor. Because, the natural resources are given away to only 15-20 industrialists, he alleged, adding that these industrialists are funding the CM and PM for election. “But, the Congress promised that your resources will be utilized for your interest only after it came to power.  Both Modi and Naveen are offering gifts to the industrialists. But, we want justice and rights for farmers”, he pointed out.

Promising loan waiver, irrigation facilities and high MSP of paddy for farmers, Gandhi ridiculed the prime minister’s promise to give Rs 15 lakh to every bank account. “I can’t make false promise like Rs 15 lakh to every account. But one thing I would like to say that farm loans would be waived off within 10 days after coming to power. The paddy MSP will be hiked to Rs 2600 per quintal”, he promised. Adding to this, the Congress leader also said that food processing units will be set up in every district so that farmers would not have to go for distress sale of his produces.

“I am not like Modi or Naveen who make tall promises and forget them after coming to power. But I keep my word what I promise”, the Congress top brass said.

Lashing out at Modi and Naveen over their false promises to give employment to youths, Rahul said all the industries which are collapsed, will be reopened for job opportunities. Besides, more industries will be set up for the purpose after the Congress came to power.

“We will not let your money to go to the pockets of industrialists. Rather, it will be spent on your education, health, food and shelter. Naveen Patnaik is running bureaucratic government in Odisha. But we want people voice in the governance. Our chief aim to create employment and protection of farmers”, Gandhi added.
