In a major update for the Indian cricket team, captain Shubman Gill has been given the green light to return to action.
The Sports Science and Medicine (SSM) team at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) has cleared Gill to play in the upcoming T20 International series against South Africa. He is now set to captain the side in the first T20I at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
Gill had sustained a shoulder injury during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata, which forced him to miss the subsequent Test and ODI matches. After successful recovery and meeting all return-to-play protocols, the CoE confirmed his fitness, enabling his return to the squad where he was previously named vice-captain.
