Trouble continues to mount for former Berhampur MLA and BJD leader Bikram Panda. The Gosani Nuagaon police have summoned and interrogated him for a second time—lasting about an hour and a half—over fresh allegations of threatening and attempting to induce witnesses. This follows an intensive four-hour grilling he faced regarding the same matter.

Police have already issued another summons, ordering Panda to appear at the station once again on October 28.

The controversy stems from the high-profile murder of senior lawyer Pitabasa Panda, who was shot dead near his home on October 6, 2025. Bikram Panda was arrested in November 2025 in connection with the crime and spent roughly 10 months behind bars before the High Court granted him bail on September 1, 2026.

However, his freedom has been short-lived. A new case was registered after witness Lalit Mangaraj alleged that he was threatened and offered inducements to change his stance. Alongside Panda, an associate and a jail doctor have also been named in these serious accusations as the investigation deepens.

With police tightening their grip and further questioning scheduled for later this month, all eyes remain on the evolving legal battle in Berhampur.
