India and France have signed a bilateral agreement worth Rs 63,000 crore for the procurement of 26 Rafale fighter jets for the Indian Navy. The deal includes 22 single-seat and 4 double-seat aircraft, built with cutting-edge technology.
- The aircraft will be equipped with advanced weapons, simulators, and training for crew members.
- The deal includes five years of operational-based logistical support.
- Deliveries are expected to begin by 2029, with all jets to be delivered by 2031.
- The Rafale jets will join the INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant aircraft carriers, replacing the current MiG-29 fighter aircraft.
